Our Faith
Our Faith
We love our city. We love its people. We love our Lord. We consider it a great privilege and blessing to be a downtown church with a downtown welcome and the opportunity to live out our faith in the center of our city. It also means a lot to us that the faith we hold to and share with Columbia is securely founded on the Bible, God’s Word.
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as the infallible rule of faith and practice.
We believe “that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 ESV
We believe that all people are sinners, with no hope for being made right with God except by believing in Jesus as the only One who can save us from our sins and from the punishment we deserve.
Our core beliefs are stated very well in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed, and the Reformed faith we hold to finds expression in the Westminster Confession of Faith. Our church is among a growing number of churches in America who find a bigger home in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, our denomination.
We believe that the good news about Jesus is a message for all people, and that it is vitally important for us to constantly look for new ways to articulate the Bible’s teaching to the society and culture around us.
